Sir Alexander Home

Noble. The son of Sir Alexander Home of Dunglass (d. 1424), Home founded the Dunglass Collegiate Church on land given by his father for this purpose before he was killed in France. Home did much to secure the position and influence of his family. In 1473, he was elevated to the peerage as Lord Home and sat in parliament in 1478-9. Of his large family, John became the Prior of Coldingham and Patrick was Master of Fast Castle. Home was one of the nobles who defeated King James III at the Battle of Sauchieburn in 1488.
