Industrialist. Based in Birmingham (England), Garbett formed a partnership with Dr. John Roebuck and set up a plant to make sulphuric acid at Prestonpans in 1749. Ten years later he founded the Carron Ironworks (Stenhousemuir) in association with Roebuck and the Cadells of Grange. He is buried in St Philip's Church, Birmingham.
