Fiona Margaret Mactaggart


1953 -

Politician. Born in Glasgow, the great grand-daughter of entrepreneurial builder Sir John Mactaggart (1867 - 1956), Mactaggart was educated at Cheltenham Ladies College and King's College, London. She served as a councillor in Wandsworth (London), rising to become Leader of the Labour Group (1988-90). She was elected as a Member of Parliament in 1997, representing Slough. She has served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (1997 - 2001) and, in 2003, was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Home Office.
