Political correspondent. Born in Dundee, Taylor was educated at Dundee High School and the University of St Andrews, graduating in 1977. He began his career in journalism at the Aberdeen Press & Journal, spending eight years in newspapers, including six years as a lobby correspondent at Westminster (London). Joining BBC Scotland in 1985, he worked on political programmes such as Left, Right and Centre with Kirsty Wark (b.1955), and has also presented Good Morning Scotland on radio. His books include Scotland's Parliament: Triumph and Disaster (2002), an account of the road to a devolved parliament and its consequences.
