Alexander L. Russell


? - 1965

Stained glass artist and educator. Born in Edinburgh, Russell trained at Edinburgh College of Art. He taught at the School of Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee and served as its Head (1922-60).

His work can be seen in churches throughout Scotland, together with the City Chambers in Dundee, Queen Victoria School in Dunblane, Perth Crematorium and Dundee Crematorium. Examples of his work can also be seen in Lusaka (Zambia) and Orleans (France).

Russell served as President of the Scottish Polish Society and was presented with the Gold Cross of Merit, the highest Polish civilian award, for his work with refugees.
