Gordon Jackson


1923 - 1990

Stage, screen and television actor. Born in Glasgow, the youngest of five children of an art teacher. His interest in acting began at school, and soon progressed into repertory theatre and radio work for the BBC. His most memorable role was as Hudson the Butler in the classic London Weekend Television series Upstairs, Downstairs (1971). His films include Whisky Galore! (1949), Tunes of Glory (1960), The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) and A Town Like Alice (1980).
