Andrew (Andy) Clyde


1892 - 1967

Actor. Born in Blairgowrie, younger brother of actor David Clyde (1885 - 1945) and minor actress Jean Clyde. Andy Clyde starred in almost 250 films during a career which stretched from the 1920s to the 1950s. He was particularly noted for his early comedy roles, later 'Westerns' and for playing Hopalong Cassidy's sidekick, California Carlson, in almost 40 films. His films include Million Dollar Legs (1932), It's a Wonderful World (1939) and The Green Years (1946). Clyde's television work included the role of Cully Wilson in the popular canine series Lassie (1958 - 1964).

He died in Los Angeles.
