Architect. Mylne worked in Dundee (1580 - 1600), where he was responsible for the Mercat Cross. He moved to Perth where he built a new bridge over the River Tay (1616), formed of a line of long, low arches, regarded as his finest work, although it was washed away in a storm in 1621, shortly after Mylnes' death. He was Master Mason to King James VI (1566 - 1625) and began a dynasty of architects, masons and engineers which continued into the middle of the 19th C. His domestic architecture includes Bannatyne House in Angus (1590). Mylne is buried in Greyfriars Cemetery, Perth.
