Fulton Mackay


1922 - 1987

Actor. Born in Paisley. After serving in the Black Watch during World War II, Mackay turned to acting. Best known for his portrayal of straight-laced prison-warder Mr Mackay in the long-running BBC TV comedy series Porridge (from 1974). His film roles included Bill Forsyth's Local Hero (1983), Water (1985), with Michael Caine and Rikki Fulton, and with Ian Bannen and Robbie Coltrane in Defence of the Realm (1985).

He died in London.
