Rock musician. Born in Glasgow, Young moved with his family to Sydney (Australia) in 1963. His scholastic success was limited to art, and he quickly left becoming a printer. Having taught himself to play the guitar at an early age, he became lead guitarist with the rock band AC/DC in 1973, which had been founded by his older brother Malcolm Young (b.1953). Their sister had suggested that he wear his school uniform on stage, and this quickly became his trademark, together with his seemingly uncontrolled spasmodic performances on stage. The band went on to make hit albums such as High Voltage (1975), Back in Black (1980), Fly on the Wall (1985), Razor's Edge (1990) and Stiff Upper Lip (2000).
