GeographyNicknamed the 'Shakey Toun', Comrie has long been associated with earth tremors because of its situation on the Highland Boundary Fault. First recorded in 1597, a major series of quakes were reported in 1789 and in 1840 the world's first seismometers were erected here. A more sophisticated recording station, Earthquake House, was built in a field in The Ross in 1874.
