Stoer
Highland

A scattered crofting settlement in a parish of the same name in the Assynt district of W Sutherland, Stoer lies near the shore of the Bay of Stoer, 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Point of Stoer and 6 miles (10 km) northwest of Lochinver.

The Point of Stoer at the northern tip of Stoer Head on the Assynt Peninsula is composed of Torridonian sandstone and is a noted landmark to seamen. A Stevenson built lighthouse is situated here. Stoer is one of the communities of the Assynt Crofters Trust, the principal others being Achmelvich, Drumbeg and Clachtoll. There are the remains of Pictish brochs nearby.
