Invergarry

Highland

A village in the Lochaber district of Highland Council Area, Invergarry lies at the foot of Glen Garry by the River Garry near where it enters Loch Oich. The village benefits from a hotel, primary school, post office, community centre (incorporating the Glengarry Heritage Centre) and a church which looks down on the A87 road. Nearby Invergarry Castle was the seat of the Macdonalds of Glengarry, while Glengarry Castle Hotel was built as Invergarry House by a wealthy Canadian in 1869. To the south is Tobar nan Ceann or the Well of the Seven Heads, a monument erected in 1815 to commemorate an incident known as the Keppoch murders associated with local clan feuds.
