A location in Nithsdale, Dumfries and Galloway, which has become a northwestern suburb of Dumfries, Lincluden lies at the junction of the Cluden Water with the Nith in the old county of Kirkcudbrightshire. The ruins of a mediaeval collegiate church stand on a mound by the Cluden Water. Founded in the 12th Century as a convent for Benedictine nuns, Lincluden was converted into a collegiate church at the end of the 14th century by Archibald, Earl of Douglas.
