Eddleston

Scottish Borders

A village in a parish of the same name in the Scottish Borders, Eddleston lies by the Eddleston Water, 4 miles (6 km) north of Peebles. The Eddleston Water flows south to join the Tweed at Peebles and nearby. The B-listed parish church was built in 1829, but contains a Mediaeval bell (1507). Eddleston once had a station on the Peebles Railway, which opened in 1855 but closed in 1962. The station building still stands and is now a private house. To the west of the village is Barony Castle and the remarkable Polish Map of Scotland.
