Bowden
Scottish Borders

A village of the Scottish Borders, lying to the south of the Eildon Hills and 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Newtown St. Boswells. Bowden Parish Church, which lies across the Bowden Burn to the south, dates back to the 12th C. and is the ancient burial place of the Kerrs of Cessford, including the Dukes of Roxburghe.

Nearby lay Holydean Castle, the former seat of these Dukes which was demolished in the 18th C.
