Tarbet
Argyll and Bute

A picturesque tourist stop-over on the western shore of Loch Lomond in Argyll and Bute, Tarbet lies at the junction of the A82 trunk road with the A83, which follows a narrow valley 1½ miles (2.5 km) west southwestwards to Arrochar at the head of Loch Long and then onwards to Inveraray and Kintyre. Boats were once dragged along the valley between the lochs. The Arrochar and Tarbet station on the West Highland Railway Line lies on the western margin of the settlement.
