Located on the northern shore of the Craignish Peninsula, 2 miles (3 km) south of Arduaine and 14 miles (23 km) south southwest of Oban, the village of Craobh Haven (pronounced 'croov-haven') was established in 1983 on part of the Lunga Estate as a response to housing and tourist needs in Mid-Argyll. Built in the style of a continental fishing village with houses on either side of a single street, the settlement also includes a couple of shops and a public house. Now largely comprising second homes, the original village was never completed although was later extended by building holiday rental properties which lie separately to the south. Further extensions have been proposed but never implemented.
Overlooking the island of Shuna, the little inshore islands of Eilean Buidhe, Eilean an Duin and Fraoch Eilean have been linked by rock breakwaters to form a natural harbour and Craobh Haven is now best known as a sizeable yacht marina, with berths for 250 vessels. Since 1994 the marina and much of the surrounding land has been owned Holt Leisure Parks, proprietors of Kip Marina.
To the northwest lie the islands of Luing, Seil and Torsay.
