Kilberry

Argyll and Bute

A remote hamlet on the southwest coast of Knapdale in Argyll and Bute, Kilberry is located 9 miles (15 km) southwest of Tarbert. An ancient church here was dedicated either to St Berach or to St Barr.

Kilberry Head and Kilberry Point lie ¾ mile (1.25 km) to the west, while Kilberry Bay is located a similar distance to the west southwest. Kilberry Castle (a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west of the hamlet) dates from the 15th century and is the site of a fine collection of mediaeval sculptured stones. Kilberry Burn flows southwest past the castle to spill into Kilberry Bay, having formed from the Allt nam Paircean to the north of the settlement.
