St Vigeans

Angus

A village in Angus, St Vigeans lies on the Brothock Burn, a mile (1.5 km) to the north of Arbroath. Named after a 7th-century Irish saint, Fechin or Vigianus, the village is noted for its collection of early Pictish carved stones which are housed in a converted cottage at the foot of the knoll on which the church stands. St Vigeans Primary School closed in 2001.

Nearby is the Kirkton Industrial Estate opposite which is HMS Condor, a former Royal Naval Air Station established in 1938 and now occupied by Royal Marines. A civilian gliding club operates from the Condor airstrip.
