Geirinish (West Geirinish, Gerinish, Geirnish, Geirinis)
Western Isles

A linear crofting township lying on the south shore of Loch Bee on South Uist (Outer Hebrides), Geirinish (or Gerinish, Geirnish, Gael: Geirinis) is sometimes known as West Geirinish to distinguish it from East Geirinish. The settlement provides access to the range-head of the Hebrides Missile Range and the statue of Our Lady of the Isles sculpted by Hew Lorimer stands on Rueval, a half-mile (1 km) to the south.
