A small village of S Angus, Bridgefoot lies on the Dichty Water immediately to the north of the boundary with Dundee City. Once known as Kirkton of Strathmartine, there were several mills here in the middle of the 19th century, together with a school, an inn, a smithy and the remains of the ancient Strathmartine Church. Today, Strathmartine Hospital lies just to the east and Clatto Country Park lies a half-mile (1 km) to the southwest.
