A resort village of Strathspey in Highland Council Area, Carrbridge lies on the Dulnain Water 7 miles (11 km) north of Aviemore. Now bypassed by the main road from Perth to Inverness, the village dates from the early 19th Century when it developed in association with tree planting on the Strathspey Estate. The remains of the original Carr Bridge built in 1717 still stand and the Landmark Visitor Centre features displays on the history and natural history of the Highlands.
Carrbridge has been the home of the World Porridge Making Championships since 1994, with competitors seeking to win the coveted 'Golden Spurtle'.
