The Tolbooth, West Wemyss

A village on the Firth of Forth, 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast of Kirkcaldy.

Created a burgh of barony in 1511 the 'Haven Town of Wemyss' developed first as a port with salt pans and later as a mining settlement. It was designated a conservation area in 1985 and has many picturesque buildings including an 18th Century Tolbooth, Wemyss Castle (c.1420) and many salters' and colliers' houses.
