During World War II, Nairn's linoleum works was converted to the production of armaments and is notable for producing the casings for the 'earthquake' tall-boy and grand-slam bombs. At 12,000 lbs and 22,000 lbs respectively, these were the largest non-atomic bombs ever used in war.
