A village of South Lanarkshire, Crawford is located on the upper reaches of the River Clyde at the junction of the Camps and Midlock Waters with the Clyde 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Abington. The West Coast Main Line cuts through the village, while the M74 motorway passes to the west. Crawford had a railway station from 1891 to 1965, when it fell victim to the Beeching cuts.
