St Madoes

Perth and Kinross

A village and a parish at the western end of the Carse of Gowrie, Perth and Kinross, St. Madoes lies due east of Perth opposite the confluence of the Rivers Earn and Tay. Its parish church (1799) is dedicated to a 4th-century French missionary called Madoch and the Pictish cross-slab originally located in the kirkyard is now in Perth Museum. A resident of the village, Alf Smith, was established as Scotland's oldest man in 2016 and celebrated his 110th birthday two years later.
