Straloch

Perth and Kinross

A settlement in Moulin Parish, Perth and Kinross, Straloch lies in Glen Brerachan near the confluence of the Allt Fearnach with the River Ardle, a mile (1.5 km) north of Kindrogan Field Centre and 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Pitlochry. Straloch Primary School dates from 1849 and was extended in 1875 but mothballed in 2011 due to declining pupil numbers. The picturesque little Neo-Perpendicular Gothic church was built on a knoll to the north of the road as a Chapel-of-Ease in 1846. It was B-listed in 1971 but converted to domestic use in 1989 having fallen from use as a church, and extended to the east in 2011. Straloch House (built 1911 by Edwin Lutyens) and the little Straloch Loch lie to the west.
