A village of North Lanarkshire which has grown to become a small town, Chapelhall is located 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Airdrie and is separated from Calderbank to the west by the North Calder Water. Formerly a centre for the manufacture of steel, Chapelhall now benefits from a post office, police station, a library, health centre, a community centre, allotments, a business hub, two primary schools (which now share a joint campus that opened in 2006), two churches, a gospel hall, a country park and an industrial estate. Chapelhall Parish Church was originally a Free Church and dates from 1857. St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church was completed in 1894, partially rebuilt 1941-52 and features stained glass by Shona McInnes.
