Upperton (Longriggend)
North LanarkshireA small village of North Lanarkshire Council Area, Upperton lies 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Airdrie. Until 2002 it was known as Longriggend but the residents wanted to change the name of the settlement due to its associations with a remand centre, situated close to the village, which closed in 2000.
