Montgreenan


North Ayrshire

A hamlet of North Ayrshire, Montgreenan lies 2 miles (3 km) east of Kilwinning. The former Montgrennan Castle was replaced by a mansion in 1817 and a railway station opened in 1878. Coal was mined at the nearby Fergushill Colliery until the early 1950s.
