Baliscate

Argyll and Bute

A small settlement on Mull in the Inner Hebrides, Baliscate lies on the A848 road a half-mile (0.8 km) south of Tobermory. Baliscate House, which served for a time as a school-house, dates from 1795. A pair of standing stones to the southwest are of Early Bronze or even the Neolithic age, while an ancient chapel and monastic complex discovered by local amateur archaeologists was excavated by Channel 4 television's Time Team in 2010 and dated to the early 7th Century. This site was still in use in Mediaeval times. There is also a craft workshop located here.
