Soutra
MidlothianA location on the boundary between Midlothian and the Scottish Borders, Soutra lies on the A68, 6 miles (10 km) of east of Gorebridge. The road climbs steeply up Soutra Brae, which is often blocked by snow in the winter, evidenced by snow-gates just below the Soutra Hill quarries. Soutra Farm lies at the base of the slope, 1¼ miles (2 km) southwest of Fala, while Soutra Aisle, the remains of a mediaeval hospital, lies exposed at a height of 370m (1213 feet).
