One of several settlements which comprise the community of Gairloch in Wester Ross, Highland Council Area, Strath lies on the shore of Loch Gairloch, 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of Poolewe. The settlement benefits from a church, post office and several shops, together with a retirement home.
