Rogart

Highland

A village in E Sutherland, Rogart is situated in Strath Fleet, 9 miles (14 km) west of Golspie. Originally a scattered crofting settlement, Rogart Railway Station opened at Pittentrail, 1½ miles (2.5 km) to the southwest, in 1868. That which is now the larger part of the settlement developed here in association with this station, a meal mill, woolen mill and auction market. Facilities include a post office and service station, with a primary school and St Callan's Church in the older section of the village. An unusual youth hostel occupies three railway carriages next to the station.
