A village of the west coast of Ross and Cromarty district in Highland Council, Opinan lies a mile (2 km) southwest of Port Henderson and 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of Gairloch. Confusingly, there is another Opinan 17 miles (28 km) to the north northeast.
