A hamlet on the west coast of the Rosneath Peninsula overlooking Loch Long in Argyll and Bute, Letter is located immediately to the south of Royal Naval Armaments Depot Coulport and 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Garelochhead. Shown on the First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map as a solitary farm, it had grown to include several fine houses and a church by the end of the 19th C.
