Portmahomack

A village on the Tarbat peninsula in Easter Ross, Portmahomack is situated on the south shore of the Dornoch Firth, 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Tarbat Ness. In the 10th century AD a chapel was built here by St Colmac who gave his name to the settlement. The village developed in association with fishing and a pier was erected in 1810. A 9-hole golf course was laid out in 1908 and the village has a visitor centre, hotels and a caravan site.
