Mugeary

Highland

A small settlement in the centre of the island of Skye in Highland Council Area, Mugeary lies within Glen More, 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of Portree. The slope on which this settlement lies is drained by several streams which form headstreams of the Glenmore River. Mugeary gives its name to Mugearite, a type of oligoclase-bearing basalt first observed here in 1904 by the English geologist Alfred Harker (1859 - 1939).
