Old Post House
©2011 Gazetteer for Scotland
A hamlet in Clackmannanshire, situated 4 miles (6 km) east of Dollar close to a spectacular gorge of the River Devon. The river at this point descends in a series of waterfalls through a deep and narrow gorge, the best known of which are the Devil's Mill and the Cauldron Linn. The river is crossed by two bridges built one above the other. The lower of the two bridges, 24.3m (80 feet) above the bed of the river, was built in 1713. A later crossing was built 36.5m (120 feet) above the Devon in 1816.
