Cluanie Inn

(Rhiabuie Inn)
Highland

A location with an inn at the west end of Loch Cluanie, Cluanie Inn lies in the West Highlands, in upper Glen Moriston at the west end of Loch Cluanie, 19 miles (30 km) west of Fort Augustus. The inn was formerly known as the Rhiabuie Inn. Here the old 18th-century military road linking Fort Augustus with Bernera was joined by a road over the hills to Glen Garry built by Thomas Telford in the early 19th Century. The expansion of Loch Loyne and Loch Cluanie by the building of hydroelectric dams in the 1950s and 1960s caused the Telford road to be diverted eastwards.
