A patriotic home, Ardersier

A settlement on the inner Moray Firth, Ardersier lies 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Inverness and just north of Inverness Airport. Founded by the Campbells of Cawdor who created a burgh of barony here in 1623. Formerly known as Campbelltown, Ardersier was the southern terminus of a ferry from the Middle Ages that linked with Chanonry Point on the Black Isle. The Highland Railway opened a branch to Ardersier in 1899, which persisted until 1958. The nearby oil rig platform construction and repair site was developed in the 1970s to serve the North Sea oil industry.
