Temple

Glasgow City

A suburb of Glasgow, Temple lies 4 miles (6.5 km) northwest of the city centre, to the north of the Great Western Road (A 82) and Anniesland and southwest of the Forth and Clyde Canal. The suburb developed from the hamlet of Temple of Garscube, which in turn took its name from a religious house of the Knights Templar established nearby in the 12th Century. The area was annexed by the City of Glasgow in 1912.
