A straggling village in Sunart, Highland Council Area, Acharacle (Gael: Ath-Tharracail) situated 2 miles (3.5 km) north northwest of Salen at the western end of Loch Shiel. A popular tourist resort, famed for salmon fishing and hill walking, Acharacle is surrounded by mountains, Beinn Resipol rising to 845m (2774 feet) nearby.
The Loch Shiel Spring Festival is one of the highlights for visitors, as are summer trips on the Jacobite Steam Train to Mallaig.
