Lochty

Fife

A settlement in the East Neuk of Fife, Lochty is situated 4 miles (6 km) northwest of Anstruther and 7 miles (11 km) west of Crail. In 1966 the Fife Railway Preservation Society began to operate a private railway as a working Steam Railway Museum on a remnant of the 15-mile (24-km) long Lochty branch railway line which had been opened in 1898 to serve the farms and coal pits in the area. To the north stand the ruins of Pittarthie Castle, a 17th-century fortified house associated with the Bruce family.
