Logie

A hamlet situated in 'a hollow among hills', Logie lies in a parish of the same name on a minor road to the west of Balmullo in northeast Fife. James West (1756 - 1817), clergyman and the author of a System of Mathematics, was the son of a minister of Logie Parish. The novelist Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) immortalised one of the local landowners in his ballad the Laird of Logie.
