Westquarter

Falkirk

Westquarter is a suburb of the town of Falkirk and is situated 2 miles (3 km) southeast of the town centre. Developed in the 1930s in the vicinity of Westquarter House, long associated with the Livingston family but demolished in 1884 and replaced by a baronial mansion which was itself demolished in 1934. Its 17th-century lectern doocot can still be seen. New housing was built on garden-city principles as a model village for miners and the area benefits from a primary school, which has been praised for its architectural merit.
