A long linear village in Dumfries and Galloway, Eaglesfield lies to the west of the Kirtle Water, 3 miles (5 km) east of Ecclefechan. The village is named after the poet Eaglesfield Smith (c.1770 - 1838) who built Blacket House nearby for himself.
