Keir Mill

A small village of Nithsdale, 1¼ miles (2 km) southeast of Penpont, Keir Mill was founded in the late 18th century. Its mill dates from 1771 and its church from 1815. Inventor of the bicycle Kirkpatrick Macmillan was born at Keir Mill in 1813 and became a blacksmith at nearby Courthill Smithy.
