Denny

Falkirk

A small industrial town in Falkirk Council area, Denny lies to the south of the River Carron. From 1877 Denny was linked with Dunipace on the opposite bank to form a single burgh. Denny had grown through the manufacture of textiles, and then mining ironstone, coal and the production of chemicals. However, between the middle of the 19th century and 2005, it was for its paper-mills that Denny was best known. The Little Denny and Drumbowie reservoirs, which are fed by the Little Denny Burn, lie to the southwest and to the west near Fankerton is the Strathcarron Hospice.
